The Hy-Vee Market Grille was in need of a children’s menu redesign. Working together with two art directors, we created a set of characters to be featured throughout the menu series as well on children’s ups and crayons in the restaurant. I got to really flex my chops by writing some children’s jokes, making up activities, and fun menu descriptions.

Meet the Grillerz: Pete Za the traveler, DJ Flipz the musician, Greta Greenz the health enthusiast and Patty Bunz the sporty burger.

By writing a set of original jokes, catchy quips and explainer copy kids are guided through a fun set of activities including word searches, coloring and conversation starts to keep them occupied and out of trouble during an outing to a restaurant.

Always a favorite, DJ Flips gets his own time in the limelight.
